Job Description & Requirements

Position Summary:         
  • Increase and influence retail education, customer service, rider engagement and brand awareness through a sales focused training approach to achieve maximum distribution and market penetration of Dorel products. This is an essential position covering the immediate area within 4 hours of Nashua NH, covering key markets of Boston, western MA, NH, ME and VT. These are key markets we need to grow and expand.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for yearly Travel and Expense budget, responsible for safety and storage of company assets valued at approx. $200k.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an advocate for the needs of the Demo, Event, Sales and Training programs by assisting with the regional development of schedule, event presence, dealer education and sales.
  • Maintains and utilizes expert product knowledge, effective presentation and selling skills, and strong understanding of assigned targets’ businesses models, objectives and customers in order to influence targets to support the use of Dorel promoted products.
  • Visit dealers and proactively sell, solve tech problems, and re-merchandise the store to aid sales.
  • Executes brand strategies to ensure effective marketing and sales message.
  • Create event plans and propose event schedules.
  • Coordinate with Event Marketing Team and Regional Managers to determine event schedule and dealer/regional priorities to increase Dorel product awareness and sales.
  • Manage budget for buying bike parts to repair bikes, vehicle repairs and buying supplies for events as needed.
  • Monitor students’ participation and performance.
  • Responsible for managing/inventorying the fleet during the demo calendar, work with sales to sell off the fleet at end of season.
  • Attend and provide logistical support for corporate sales meetings as required.
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers through effective customer service.
  • Promote and sell the new product line for each year to dealers. 
  • Assist with development of the annual marketing and sales plan.
  • Identify new business opportunities and make contacts with prospective customers to generate new sales leads. 
  • Provide in-store sales support to retailers such as merchandising, inventory support, bike and POP transfers
  • Train the retail staff in company’s preferred selling techniques for new product lines as appropriate. 
  • Help to oversee the development of and conduct sales and product presentations.
  • Recommend and implement new sales strategies.
  • Follows internal controls and company policies as set by company and job function.
  • Contributes to the success of company by leading or assisting with other projects and tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidates will have had 2-3 years of demo event experience, bike industry experience and retail sales or B2C experience.  
  • A minimum of 2 years of successful sales experience, preferably in the bike industry.
  • Candidate must be comfortable presenting product lines and training to dealers and at sales meetings.
  • Must be willing to travel on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to operate autonomously and without direct daily interaction with fellow employees.
  • Must be able to read and understand technical material.
  • Must maintain an excellent attitude with the buying public and dealers at all times.
  • Must represent our brands in a professional manner and wear company uniform at events, trainings and sales calls.
  • Superior customer service and sales skills required.
  • Knowledge of computers required including knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift, carry and move bicycles up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to assemble, disassemble, maintain and repair fleet of bicycles.
  • Must be able to safely operate, drive and maintain a commercial vehicle and trailer and become DOT certified.
  • Must be able to load and unload equipment multiple times in short order.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel throughout US and Canada.
