Job Description & Requirements

General Responsibilities:

Plans and establishes production work schedules to meet sales needs and best utilize production capacity and current labor resources.    Responsible for inventory of Production work in process.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

=         Propose and create long term build plans based on forecasts, orders, and available inventory

=         Plan day to day production based on build plans, capacities, and production labor hours

=         Work closely with production to maintain an efficient mix

=         Plan and schedule workflow for each production department

=         Communicate available capacity to Customer Service

=         Communicate exceptions and deviations from the projected build plan to production

=         Communicate changes to plan that could affect purchasing

=         Manage, monitor, and maintain inventory on ICUs and finished goods inventory

=         Coordinate resolution of inventory discrepancies

=         Calculate and maintain capacities for each production department

=         Maintain planning databases and spreadsheets

=         Plan and coordinate new product introductions

=         This position will involve many other tasks and responsibilities that are not listed.  The above job description is a highlight of some of the larger duties.

  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to keyboard, handle and feel objects, tools or controls.  The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, bend and twist.

The employee must occasionally lift and move 10 to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually low in the office environment and loud in the production environment.

The employee is often working in a hot or cold environment when in the production area.

 

  • Education and Experience Required:At least 2 years proven experience as a Production Planner
  • Excellent understanding of production planning principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software – Outlook, Word and Excel.  Must be strong in Excel.
  • Proficient in creating and using complex spreadsheets and work-related software to the fullest capabilities

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Experience utilizing an ERP and MRP system
  • Experience implementing an ERP and MRP system
  • Experience in lean manufacturing environment
