Umpqua Feather Merchants, the world's foremost manufacturer and distributor of premium quality fishing flies, is seeking highly organized and self-motivated individual to assist the company in exceeding its financial and strategic goals in servicing 1,100-plus dealers worldwide and the production of over 2,000 different patterns of flies. A detail- oriented nature and the ability to multi-task and work independently as well as in a team environment, are a must. We are currently accepting applications for a Staff Accountant
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities: Employee is responsible for reconciliations, analysis, financial reporting and preparing journal entries. Monthly and yearly closing of general ledger. Responsible for Sales, Use and Excise tax. Manages 1-2 direct reports.
Duties:
= Maintain accurate general ledger with multiple ledger entries
= Lead monthly close procedures including bank reconciliations, preparing and posting adjusting entries
= Prepare monthly financial statements with the ability to run financial reports for CEO when requested
= Prepare special accounting reports as needed
= Maintain accurate cash flow spreadsheet
= Lead AR and AP clerks
= Maintain organized filing system
= Administrative duties including filing, faxing and mailing.
= Provide support to staff for ongoing accounting issues
= Prepare workpapers for yearend close for CPA
= Prepare and file 1099’s
= Lead AP clerk in commission and royalty calculations and payments
= Prepare and file city and state sales tax and federal excise tax
= Assist CEO in preparing yearly budget
= Assist AR and AP clerk with their workload as needed
= Assist with additional duties as assigned
= 2 years of accounting experience is desired
= High level of attention to detail.

= Strong organization and communication skills.
= Ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
= Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
= Ability to learn quickly.
= Experience in Microsoft Navision (NAV) preferred
