Job Description:

The Senior Engineer Manager will lead and supervise the company’s Engineering department.  The department is responsible for leading the technical engineering effort on all projects and products, from product development to production to in-field use.

The department currently consists of six engineers.  Two are based in Oakland and are responsible for product specification, production drawings, performance testing and customer compliance.  Two are in our Hong Kong office and are responsible for design-to-production implementation, production support and regulatory compliance testing.  The remaining two are based in Boulder, Colorado and oversee design-to-production implementation of our US-made squeeze bottles, as well as support for the in-house assembly line and equipment.

The Engineering department works with the New Products department to provide manufacturing and technical input to the product design cycle.  As an Original Equipment provider, it is critical that our products are designed with manufacturing in mind to keep them cost effective and robust.  The department also works with the Operations department to continually improve our production processes and to troubleshoot issues as they arise. 

This position is part of the Core Committee, leading the company with the other key operational departments.  It reports directly to the President.

Position Responsibilities:

=       Ensure product design is in line with product requirements

=       Write, organize and approve manufacturing specifications

=       Conduct testing on products throughout development cycle from product inception to production.

=       Review regulatory requirements and communicate with staff

=       Coordinate incoming inspection criteria with US staff

=       Troubleshoot product issues

=       Review warranty issues to identify product problems and develop and communicate solutions to solve issues

=       Unify HydraPak and Polar Bottle Document Control process

=       Mange associate and senior engineers to keep on task and provide diverse workload

=       Develop and accurately manage departmental budget, annual plan and calendar

Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree - BS Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • 4 years of work experience in Manufacturing/Engineering
  • CAD skills required - Solidworks drawings and parts
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • PLM software experience is a plus
  • Very good written and verbal communication
  • Strong proficiency with Windows based computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Effective and Precise written communication skills
  • Accurate, organized, and prompt work routines

Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time, 40 hour-a-week job.  The work shift is from 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday with an hour off for lunch.  After 90 day probationary period, you are eligible for company-subsidized medical insurance and vacation benefits.  401(k) with company match available with annual eligibility.  Travel to China, Colorado and occasional trade shows is required.
