Job Description & Requirements
Service Technician
Service Technician is responsible for bicycle repair & maintenance on both customer bicycles & rental bicycles. Beyond maintaining and repairing bicycles, the Service Technician should know the bicycles on the floor, be able to speak to upgrades for the bikes, and be able to help teach the interns. GoodTurn Cycles operates a job training program for 16-24 year olds with a barrier to employment. Although not the primary role of the Service Technician, this person is expected to be engaged with interns 5-10% of their time in the shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute in multiple roles including outreach, sales and repairs
Staff local events promoting rental & tours business
Maintain high level sales ability
Provide exemplary customer service including the handling of customer complaints if/when they arise
Promote open communication between sales, non-profit and service departments
Maintain a fun and positive environment for customers and employees
Provide an atmosphere with a high degree of cleanliness and organization throughout the store
Check work email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift
Work with / train interns as required

Build new retail bikes
Intake customer bikes for service
Perform maintenance & repairs on traditional & electric bikes
Maintain rental fleet, including rental accessories (helmets, locks, etc.)
Assist in handling warranty claims as they arise
Assist in maintaining GTC van
Maintain an organized and professional work space

Education/Experience:
Background in bike mechanics
Experience in teaching setting - PLUS
Cycling enthusiast - PLUS

About GoodTurn Cycles
GoodTurn Cycles is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated helping people achieve better health and providing job training to young people. Our shop specializes in sales, rentals and tours of electric bicycles (e-bikes), and repairs for all bikes.
GoodTurn Cycles is home to a job training program for young people with barriers to employment. Our paid internship program takes our interns through a bicycle mechanics, customer service and mentorship curriculum in which we develop transferrable basic employability skills. Although we have dedicated staff to perform the training, all employees have the opportunity to have a positive impact on our interns through mentor engagement and supplementary training.
