Job Description & Requirements
Picks, receives, unpacks, and examines goods shipped and verifies completeness of shipments against BOMs, invoices, and other records. Keeps records of goods shipped. Prepares products for shipment. Counts and compares quantity and identification numbers of units against order. Prepares identifying information and shipping instructions on containers. Moves containers using hand truck, forklift or other similar equipment.
Responsibilities:
= Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
= Determines method of shipment.
= Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons.
= Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
= Inserts items into containers.
= Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
= Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
= Routes items to departments.
= Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
= Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
= Picks items for shipment from inventory.
= Operates forklift or hand truck to move shipments.
= Focus on accuracy of picked orders, shipment quality and error free work.
Qualifications:
2-3 years’ experience with picking and shipping.
= High school diploma or GED
= Ability to use computer proficiently; Proficiency with Word, Excel and various shipping software
= Ability to read and comprehend instructions
= Ability to calculate figures and amounts
Work Environment:
= Regularly required to lift and move up to 50 lbs
= Regularly required to stand for long periods of time (fatigue mats provided)
= Dexterity to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
