Job Description & Requirements

The Retail Visual Merchandising Manager will be responsible for the  development and management of visual merchandising programs to help  maximize Black Diamond brand awareness, brand stories within the retail  stores, product sales and profitability via Black Diamond Brand Stores.  Responsible for the marketing components of the retail stores.This  role will be responsible for traveling to our retail stores, conducting  visual floor set changes, management, and demonstration. They will have  full authority for personal actions. Must be able to lead and team, and  coach on the spot. Participate in various trade shows and live events.  Work closely with our marketing team to coordinate social media content  from retail locations through Brand as well as develop key marketing  relationships to drive the success of the stores.The Visual  Merchandising Manager will create and maintain a close partnership with a  diverse team that includes the Black Diamond Marketing Department,  Black Diamond Retail Stores, Sales Department, Climb/Ski/Mountain  Category Directors, retail partners, retail staff and outside agency  partners.  

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive global Point of Purchase program.
  2. Coordinate and assist in the production of all new store openings in Utah and across the nation.
  3. Work directly with project coordination team and agency partners on the production of all Visual Merchandising POP items.
  4. Coordinate in-store fixturing and presentation with store managers, in-store marketing to enhance visual perspective and traffic/flow and measure performance/effectiveness.
  5. Facilitate creative merchandising solutions that are commercially viable and offer a unique store experience.
  6. Participate in annual marketing planning process including, but not limited to preparation of seasonal Visual Merchandising plans.
  7. Participate in measurement of Visual Merchandising and Retail Marketing programs with monthly reporting.
  8. Work as a liaison with Social Media Manager on various retail marketing special projects to maintain on brand consistency across all BD Retail channels such: Capturing content in the stores relating to products, events, etc. Work with store managers to keep Facebook pages up to date with events, sales, etc. Work with Social Media Manager to develop and execute social media strategy specifically relating to retail locations.
  9. Ability to work weekends and travel ability to lift and mobilize large items, up to 50 lbs. while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.

Education 

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Marketing, or Business.

Work Experience

  • Required: 3 years in a corporate marketing, retail sales or visual merchandising or 2-3 years of leadership within retail, marketing or visuals.

Skills and General Experience

Required:

  • Working knowledge of retail environment, including operations-logistics, marketing and management.
  • Ability to work effectively across disciplines and maintain excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Strong budget management experience.
  • Forward thinking perspective yet flexible to change priorities.
  • High degree of organizational skills, project management skills, attention to detail, and scheduling ability required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and positively influence a broad and diverse group toward achieving a mutually agreed upon goal.
  • Should have a positive, energetic working style. Excellent customer relation skills, knowledge of POS systems, typing, tradeshow, sell-in sales collateral production, merchandising, product knowledge, knowledge of and/or participation in climbing, back country skiing and mountaineering.

Preferred:

  • Outdoor retail experience with relevant merchandise/buying responsibilities. Experience with packaging & POP materials. Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with cross-functional teams. Experience with developing creative processes and production schedules.
  • Required licenses: Driver's License.
