Job Description & Requirements

Accounting and Operations Associate

Access Fund is looking for an Accounting and Operations Associate who will serve as key support staff for the Finance and Operations Department of a growing nonprofit organization. The Accounting and Operations Associate will report to the Controller and will support day-to-day accounting functions as well as providing support for human resources management and other operational functions.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about Access Fund’s mission to keep climbing areas open and conserve the climbing environment. The new team member will have excellent problem-solving skills, work well independently, show initiative to take on new challenges, and thrive in a dynamic, highly productive work environment.

The position will be based in Access Fund headquarters, which is located in Boulder, Colorado. Currently, due to the pandemic, all staff, with the exception of essential staff, are working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

Accounting

  • Processing payables, including posting to the online bill payment service;
  • Posting and accurately classifying credit card purchases;
  • Reconciling monthly statements, credit cards, and other accounts;
  • Maintaining financial records and receipts;
  • Processing payroll and retirement contributions;
  • Assisting with processing of annual tax documents;
  • Tracking inventory and in-kind donations;
  • Assisting with financial reporting; and
  • Assisting with additional data entry and management.

Human Resources and Operations

  • Assisting with administration of the benefits program and serving as point of contact for staff;
  • Assisting with administration of workers compensation system;
  • Assisting with job postings, hirings, onboarding, and offboarding; and
  • Assisting in management of HR files.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; relevant experience and coursework may substitute degree;
  • Strong grasp of accounting and financial management, especially for nonprofit organizations;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Quickbooks or comparable accounting software;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage projects involving multiple team members;
  • Detail-oriented with exceptionally strong follow-up and follow-through skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Natural curiosity and skill at problem solving;
  • Interest in learning about the operations of a dynamic, growing nonprofit organization;
  • Motivated and interested to join our journey on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and excited to work with a team of colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds;
  • Enthusiasm for climbing and conservation are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $40,000-$45,000/year, DOE
