Bemis Associates, a leading manufacturer of heat activated films, adhesives, water proofing seam tapes, and custom films for many industries including apparel and consumer electronics, is seeking an energetic and hands-on individual to join our innovation team in the position of Innovation Strategist.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working closely with customers and outside innovators in combination with Bemis product development, application and marketing groups to identify areas where Bemis can develop and deliver breakthrough innovation that brings significant value to market.
- Identify areas to innovate and prioritize.
- Identify opportunities where Bemis can bring innovative concepts to 1.) significantly improve performance of our customers products or 2.) increase efficiency within our customers assembly techniques.
- Evaluate and prioritize identified opportunities.
- Idea Generation & Proof of Concept
- Work with external and internal partners to seek input and/ or brainstorm potential solutions to identified opportunities.
- Build proof of concept protos.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external customers to validate opportunities.
- Develop and Validate
- Participate and/or lead projects to develop and validate customer and innovation solutions.
- Commercial Introduction
- Lead commercial efforts to introduce concepts to market.
REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE AND/OR PREFERRED):
Education:
= Bachelor’s degree in materials/garment engineering, textile/materials technology, garment (apparel) technology or a related field is required.
Experience:
= Minimum of 10 years’ of relevant innovation experience in apparel industry, concentrated on technical outerwear or performance wear.
= Comprehensive understanding of fabric construction and performance, garment construction, production processes, assembly equipment and general logistic aspects of the industry.
= Proven track record of creating and delivering new concepts to market.
= Experience working for either a start-up and/or high-growth organization is highly desirable.

Travel Requirements
= Up to 40-50% Travel Required (Domestic and International)- Post covid.
