Job Description & Requirements
Location: Remote
Requirements: Ten years participation in endurance sports with 5 years coaching endurance athletes. Degree in Exercise Science, Business Administration, Project Management or similar degrees. Certification from accredited sports institution such as NASM, IMU, or USAT. Passion for endurance sports.
Salary: Base salary contingent on experience.
As our Director of Training, you will handle the following responsibilities:
- Identify and address improvements in existing workouts and plans (e.g., overhaul and upgrade strength exercise library)
- Improve user experience within plans and website
- Create and implement new training products and services (e.g., cycling plans, coach monitoring of premium subscriber training, swim technique instruction, build-you-own 80/20 plan tool)
- Liaise with partners such as TrainingPeaks on training-related matters
- Create and manage offline programs and events such as 80/20 Endurance clinics or camps
- Oversee implementation of coach certification program
- Create and manage specialist referral program (physiotherapists, mental performance coaches, sports dietitians)
- Monitor competing businesses to ensure 80/20 is and remains a step ahead
- Manage Coaches of Color Initiative grant recipients
- Answer and facilitate the answering training-related e-mail and forum questions
In a typical day as our Director of Training, you may find yourself doing the following:
- Improving the experience and content of existing training plans
- Answer requests for solutions from athletes
- Look in the mirror and say, "I'm so glad that I, Dwayne the Rock Johnson, accepted this position*."
- Set up or modify athletes’ subscriptions and training plans and thrill them with your thorough and quick response
- Plan part of the weekly newsletter
- Film a new onboarding video
- Test a potential software solution that might solve a problem
- Suggest an improvement to an existing process
- Flex on your brother-in-law by telling him about the startup you work for
- Recruit a new 80/20 Certified Coach
