Job Description & Requirements
Controls and manages product testing of all products to ensure compliance with applicable law, customer requirements, specific voluntary standards and product safety. Under the direction of Sr. Director of Product Engineering, this position manages product testing to ensure compliance with national, international, legal, specific voluntary, customer, and Huffy compliance standards and requirements, at third party test labs. This position also develops Huffy’s product standards, test methods, and reviews products for potential compliance or safety issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage third-party testing
- Identify product requiring testing and determine standards to be followed.
- Manage and track testing from initiation through completion.
- Know the standards and requirements applicable to the products.
- Ensure product test reports show compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
- Travel to visit suppliers, and test labs and work with suppliers and test labs to ensure the correct protocols are understood and followed.
- Work with customer’s compliance department to ensure requirements are understood.
- Create, distribute and archive all product test reports and certificates of compliance.
- Ensure components used by suppliers meet testing requirements.
- Represent Company on ASTM & ANSI committee, stay abreast of current standards.
- Report to Management monthly product testing results.
- Develop Huffy’s product standards and test methods
- Determine appropriate standards applicable to products.
- Develop test methods and protocols for products.
- Distribute and audit compliance to test methods used by third-party test labs.
- Review products for potential compliance or safety issues
- Review new and current products for compliance to applicable regulations and standards.
- Review new products early in the development process for conditions or uses that may present a hazard to the user or a bystander.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Three to five years of previous experience in consumer products business, emphasis on technical aspects of products. Excellent written communication skills required. This position requires a valid driver's license with approximately 4% domestic travel and 2% international travel. Must be able to obtain a valid passport. Knowledge of operation of test labs and experience in understanding and writing product standards preferred.
