Mustang Survival's sister company is Wing Inflatables. Join our Wing Inflatables plant leadership team as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager to help drive continuous improvements and drive a ”first time right” culture in our 100+ employee manufacturing plant. You will use data analytics to meet key performance metrics and have a staff of 4 QC technicians and 1 QC Supervisor handling quality gates and final inspections of our many government, commercial and recreational marine inflatables. This team will require your QC knowledge to continue to grow their quality skills, yet all have a strong background in our production processes and our products.
In our fast-paced Arcata-based production facility, the ideal candidate will love to dig into the issues, interact with our production workers, engineers, suppliers and management, and create new processes or systems to gain efficiencies and increase people talent. Strong background in quality assurance, engineering principles, quality control principles, project management and Lean Manufacturing knowledge is a plus.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Develops, coordinates and implements product quality programs to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products or processes. Establishes and enforces quality standards including monitoring the testing of both materials and products, implementing ISO 9001 and acting as the ISO Management Representative. This position reports directly to the VP of Corporate Quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Analyzes and evaluates existing quality processes; addresses day-to-day quality issues
- Addresses internal and external customer complaints, conducts investigations, develops root cause analysis, determines countermeasures, and documents. Record and use the data to drive improvement on the floor
- Leads and facilitates cross-functional teams to solve quality problems
- Establishes, tracks, analyzes, and reports on key quality metrics
- Maintains and improves the Quality Management System. Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality procedures.
- Liaison with third party auditors and government quality assurance representatives
- Collaborates in the development of process documentation and training materials for new processes, materials, and equipment.
- Maintains high quality standards through on-the-floor interaction with employees to ensure quality and accuracy in each step of the production process
- Develops and delivers quality training as needed. Works with management to schedule off-the-floor training as required.
- Leads, mentors, coaches and motivates the quality staff.
- Periodically review the status and results of the Quality Management System with management.
- Works with VP or Corporate Quality and other QA managers to drive company-wide standardization.
- Conducts root cause analysis into quality issues.
- Authority to stop production or shipment if quality requirements are not being met.
