Chums has a long and storied history on the water. In 1983, Chums inventor Mike Taggett was tired of watching his customers lose their sunglasses to the bottom of the Colorado River. This is where the idea for the Original Cotton Chums was born. Living in the back of a VW van with a $60 sewing machine, Taggett started producing the first round of Chums.

In 2002 Chuck Ferries purchased Chums in partnership with his son and son-in-law. For the past 20 years the Ferries family has continued to push innovation through product development, instilled a commitment to American-made manufacturing (out of the companys Hurricane, UT manufacturing facility), and embedded an unwavering passion for unbeatable customer service, helping Chums became the global brand we know and love today.

The Graphic Designer’s main role is to collaborate across departments to produce amazing work to both communicate to our customers and prospective customers as well as continue to build and develop the Chums brand.  This person will have a passion for the outdoors and design, as well as possess diverse skill set covering various creative disciplines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Conceptualize, design, and implement creative graphic and digital graphics and content, on time and within budget.

·         Develop and design layouts, inclusive of copy and images for sales collateral (PDF and PPT), digital ads, onsite promotional materials, (banners, printed collateral), etc.

·         Create layouts, edit videos and graphics for the Chums website and other social sites such as, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn

·         Update existing presentations and collateral; design new ones, create branded collateral for sales presentations and trade shows.

·         Assist marketing manager with content updates to both D2C and B2B websites.

·         Coordinate with the marketing manager to con?rm marketing objectives, creative direction, and brand consistency.

·         Assist product development with designing product prints and patterns, packaging, and mockups of products, and catalogs.

·         Manage design revisions and approval of artwork and information accuracy.

·         Manage utilization and archive of all project artwork.

·         Manage and shoot studio product photography: edit photos, organize images, upload to image repository.

·         Other duties as assigned


Knowledge and Skill Requirements

·         Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or related course of study.

·         Three to Four years’ experience in graphic design for a company or agency.

·         Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud experience.

·         Microsoft, Power Point and Word experience.

·         Video editing experience using Adobe Premiere.

·         Understanding of printing process and specifications.

·         Experience with Shopify or basic Front-end web designs.

·         Experience with photography and basic photography editing.

·         Project Management software, such as Asana preferred.

·         Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

·         Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Passionate about or familiar with fishing, water sports and the outdoor industry.

·         Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds constantly and 20 pounds occasionally.

·         Ability to work in cold and hot environments (approximately 38F-80F degrees)

·         Ability to be mobile in accomplishing tasks and or moving from one to another but may not be limited to in-office departments

·         Ability to repeat motions that may include use of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and standing or sitting for prolonged periods (average 8-10 hours)
