WHAT TO EXPECT

Located in our Denver, CO office, Gates is looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer within our Global Mobility group who will support the development of belt drive systems for bicycles, e-bikes and fitness applications.  


Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Design and engineer new products and technologies to support the strategic plan in accordance with best practices.
  • 3D design and GD&T drawings of complex parts and assemblies.
  • Work with application, process, and manufacturing experts and suppliers in development of new products to meet performance targets.
  • Work with material and process experts and suppliers in development of new designs to meet timing and performance targets.
  • Work with operators and production personnel to develop samples and document new processes.
  • Support continuous product and process improvements (sustaining engineering).
  • Collaborate with Engineering Program Managers on product updates and ensure all changes are well-documented and efficiently implemented.
  • Proactively communicate (both verbally and written) key developments and updates on new projects/products to program management.
  • Will direct and mentor the work of technicians and junior engineers. 

 

ABOUT YOU

  • 5-10+ years of progressive and comprehensive product development experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical field required (mechanical engineering, etc.).
  • Experience in mechanical design (preferably in related products). SolidWorks fluency desirable.
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability in metal, plastic, or composite part design including material selection.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T), with focus on high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with technical graphical communication of concepts, ideas, and solutions
  • High level interpersonal and leadership skills; must be able to influence and collaborate across multiple levels within the company, at various locations, and with suppliers.
  • Experience with automotive or aerospace industry quality standards and manufacturing methods; TS16949, AS9100, ISO9000, etc.
  • Highest values on safety in personal work practices and consideration in design of processes and equipment.
  • Superior attention to detail with and ability to manage complex projects and detailed planning.
  • Passion for making great products.
  • This position demands technical strengths in many areas, including design, simulation, prototyping, and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience with finite element analysis methods.
  • Knowledge on the effective use of DVP&R (validation) and DFMEA (risk management).
  • Demonstrated experience with geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Highest values on safety in personal work practices and consideration in design of processes and equipment.
  • A preference to hands on work style.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers, preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.  

 

PAY & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
