About the Role
Mountain Chalet is seeking a retail-savvy Bookkeeper / Office Manager who thrives at the intersection of financial accuracy, inventory operations, and internal coordination. This role is central to keeping our specialty retail environment running smoothly - supporting staff, systems, and workflows with clarity and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Accounting
• Reconcile and record daily sales and COGS between POS and QBO/Xero
• Record, code, and verify invoices and maintain accurate receiving documentation
• Maintain GL accounts for accuracy including bank reconciliations
• File state and city sale tax returns and maintain documentation with vendors
• Process employee wages, taxes, and deductions accurately; strong understanding of Colorado wage requirements
POS & Inventory
• Maintain accurate POS and Shopify metadata (SKUs, taxonomy, pricing, variants)
• Support inventory management with accurate costs, pricing, and cycle/year-end counts
• Create, place, and verify purchase orders; record transfers; resolve receiving discrepancies
• Track and maintain company assets, including rental equipment
• Coordinate vendor returns, credits, and warranty processes
Operational Administration
• Strengthen internal communication and coordination across the store
• Maintain SOPs, project lists, task lists, and operational documentation
• Assist with HR onboarding (paperwork, accounts, training materials, scheduling)
• Support performance management workflows (e-training, PODS, clinics, on-sites)
• Ensure compliance with insurance requirements for ski shop, rental program, events, and worker's comp
• Assist with rental management system to ensure proper documentation, products, and pricing
Job Requirements and Qualifications
• 2+ years outdoor retail bookkeeping, inventory data management, and retail-specific analytics
• Experience with POS/accounting workflows; Shopify experience a plus
• Strong understanding of vendor workflows (preseason, ASAP, invoice matching, pricing updates, MAPP)
• Proficiency with QBO or Xero plus AP tools like Bill.com
• Strong organizational and documentation habits
• Intermediate computer skills; Microsoft 365 proficiency
• Basic project management skills
