Job Description & Requirements

Workshop Mechanic

La Bottega Pinarello - New York

Build Bikes. Drive Operations. Support Riders.

At Bottega, we believe a bicycle is more than a product. It is freedom. It is performance. It is community. We are building a premium cycling destination in New York and are looking for an experienced Workshop Mechanic to join our founding team. This is not a traditional bike shop role. We are looking for a cross-functional operator who combines technical expertise, operational excellence, commercial awareness and exceptional customer service. You will help create industry-leading rider experiences while working with some of the finest bicycles, components and cycling equipment in the world. If you are passionate about bikes, take pride in your work, love helping people and want to be part of building something special, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Workshop Mechanic, you will play a critical role in the success of the business. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional technical work while supporting operational excellence across inventory, workshop execution, rider experience and commercial performance. This role extends well beyond the workshop. We are looking for someone equally comfortable building a dream bike, supporting a premium bicycle sale, managing inventory accuracy, assisting with a custom build consultation, or helping a Rider Advisor create an exceptional rider experience. You will work closely with Rider Advisors and Captains to ensure every rider experiences world-class service from their first visit through years of ownership.

What You’ll Do

Technical Excellence

  • Assemble premium bicycles to the highest standards
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, upgrades and routine maintenance
  • Conduct quality control inspections
  • Deliver exceptional workshop presentation and organisation
  • Prepare bicycles for rider delivery
  • Build confidence through technical expertise and craftsmanship
  • Stay current on the latest products, technologies and service procedures

Operational Excellence

  • Support inventory management and stock accuracy
  • Receive and process incoming inventory
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits
  • Manage service inventory and workshop consumables
  • Support warranty administration and product returns
  • Maintain stockroom organization and operational standards
  • Help ensure smooth day-to-day store operations

Rider Experience & Commercial Success

  • Support premium bicycle sales conversations
  • Assist with custom bike build consultations
  • Recommend upgrades, components and performance solutions
  • Help riders understand technical options and product benefits
  • Build trust through expertise and exceptional service
  • Support achievement of sales, service and business goals
  • Contribute to a premium hospitality experience throughout the store

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for people who are:

  • Passionate about cycling
  • Hungry to learn and improve
  • Honest and accountable
  • Strong communicators
  • Commercially aware
  • Rider focused
  • Team oriented
  • Detail focused
  • Obsessed with quality and service

We are not looking for people who wait to be told what to do.

We are looking for people who take ownership, solve problems, raise standards, and genuinely care about helping riders achieve their goals.

Skills & Experience

Candidates should demonstrate experience in:

  • Precision bicycle assembly
  • Premium road and gravel bicycles
  • Electronic shifting systems
  • Hydraulic brake systems
  • Wheel truing and tensioning
  • Tubeless systems
  • Drivetrain diagnostics and repair
  • Frame preparation
  • Bearing installation and service
  • Technical troubleshooting and problem solving

Experience with premium cycling brands and components such as Pinarello, Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo, ENVE, Zipp, Reserve and DT Swiss is highly desirable.

Previous experience within a premium cycling retailer, workshop or service environment is preferred.

What Success Looks Like

  • Riders trust your recommendations and expertise
  • Bikes leave the workshop in exceptional condition
  • Service standards consistently exceed expectations
  • Inventory remains accurate and organized
  • Riders return because of the confidence you create
  • You contribute positively to a high-performing team
  • You help establish Bottega as the benchmark for premium cycling retail in New York

Why Join Bottega?

This is a unique opportunity to join the founding team of an ambitious and growing premium cycling business.

You will work with world-class products, passionate riders and talented teammates while helping shape the future of one of New York’s most exciting cycling destinations.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Paid vacation
  • Healthcare benefits (role dependent)
  • Cycling kit allowance
  • Bike benefit program and path to ownership
  • Staff discount
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Access to premium cycling products and brands

Part-time and full-time positions are available. The hourly rate will range from $27 to $31 per hour.

Built on Heritage. Driven by Innovation.

If you love bikes, believe in exceptional service and want to help shape the future of premium cycling retail in New York, we’d love to hear from you.

About Pinarello US Inc.

Pinarello was born out of one man’s passion for racing. As a rider, Giovanni Pinarello was known for winning the Maglia Nera at the Giro d’Italia, but as a frame-builder his name became synonymous with the Maglia Rosa and the Maillot Jaune, with cycling’s greatest champions, with victory.

Some of the most iconic moments in cycling history happened on a bike bearing his name, and today Pinarello is the epitome of success, leading when others follow.

Giovanni took a small shop in Treviso and changed the cycling world, pushing the boundaries, doing what others thought impossible. His objective was simple: To make the world’s best bikes. And seven decades on, Fausto Pinarello continues his father’s legacy the only way that Pinarello knows how – by winning.

Pinarello holds the record for the most Tour de France victories; 15. We've also won the Giro d'Italia 8 times and the Vuelta Espana 7, meaning we're proud to say we are the most successful cycling manufacturer in history.
