A truly global company, with 700 employees and production facilities in seven countries, DT Swiss develops, manufactures and markets products in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
DT Swiss products can be found on more than 250 leading bicycle brands as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specification as well as through a worldwide network of aftermarket distribution partners and service centers.
US Operations: DT Swiss is headquartered in Grand Junction, CO. The company brings in sub-assemblies and finished goods from other production facilities. Products are made, assembled and repackaged there and in other facilities for internal consumption or shipment to OEM bicycle manufacturers or distributors.
Position: OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Sales Specialist Americas
Reports: to Chip Barbieri, General Manager, DT Swiss USA, Grand Junction, CO
and to Urs Keller, Managing Director, DT Swiss Asia, Taichung, Taiwan
Challenge: The OEM Sales Specialist Americas (Specialist) is based at the Grand Junction, CO, headquarters. (Note: Location is non-negotiable.)
The Specialist leads relationship management in all areas of the business process for bicycle brands with headquarters in North and South America. The mission of the Specialist is both external and internal simultaneously. DT Swiss relies on the Specialist’s continual, detailed engagement with the stake holders of the external bicycle brand clients and with the appropriate internal cohorts and departments of DT Swiss globally.
The greatest amount of internal communication (and international travel) is with: DT Swiss Asia in Taichung, Taiwan; DT Swiss AG in Biel, Switzerland; and DT Swiss Germany in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany. The DT Swiss systems for OEM sales depend on where the client product is designed and where manufactured. These complex systems and processes were formulated to provide transparent, seamless service and delivery for the clients.
The Specialist is a member of an effective global team, whether the client is a boutique super-premium mountain bike company or one of the largest and best-known brands in the game.
Responsibilities:
* Build long-term, professional sales and support relationships with assigned clients.
* Know the same (if not more) about the clients’ activities than they know themselves.
* Participate dynamically and continuously to achieve the overall global sales objectives.
* Communicate constantly with the client companies and DT Swiss stakeholders.
* Participate daily in the maintenance and updating of the CRM information.
* Understand what DT Swiss competitors (by product type) are doing in the market.
Skills:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Collaborate and build trust with all relevant personnel within clients.
* Assess bicycle brand needs and provide solutions (products or services).
* Prioritize competing tasks and complete them in a timely manner.
* Experience in and understanding of the cycling industry strongly preferred.
* Technical comprehension of cycling products is a must.
* Strong attention to detail and keen analytical capabilities.
Experience:
* Minimum five years technical sales experience in manufacturing environment.
* CRM (customer relationship management) software experience is necessary.
* SAP or other large ERP (enterprise resource planning) software is a plus.
* Bilingual in English and Spanish or German is a plus.
* College education, or equivalent work experience, is necessary.
* Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Travel: Between 35 – 50 percent of time to: key Americas clients to maintain strong interpersonal relationships; bicycle industry trade shows and events; and other DT Swiss locations. This includes travel once or twice per year to Europe and same to Taiwan.
Opportunity: The OEM Sales Specialist role provides a fascinating and immersive exposure to the nuts and bolts of the bicycle business. Literally. The Specialist represents DT Swiss, a premium quality brand of components, to some of the most elite bicycle brands in the world, with the backing of other team members, at the client headquarters and manufacturing sites.
It is the marriage of technical comprehension and global collaboration for the right person.
Offer: DT Swiss can offer the selected candidate: industry competitive compensation (depending on experience); a fair and generous benefits package; an established and motivated team; interesting and varied activities; a modern infrastructure; attractive employment conditions; and a sports oriented and dynamic working environment.
