Job Description & Requirements

The Demand Planner has the responsibility to ensure that St. Croix has the right amount of completed inventory to promptly fulfill customers' orders.    The Demand Planner works with the Sales Team in building sales forecasts, collaborates with the Operations Team to ensure needed capacity is available to build the inventory, and verifies with the Supply Chain Manager that required raw materials will be available to support the production build.   The Demand Planner is responsible for creating all production shop orders and analyzing and  adjusting the shop orders as necessary should constraints arise.    This positon will be the focal point for any inquiries related to inventory levels and product availability.   

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with production leaders to ensure optimal productivity and timely completion of orders (schedule adherence) for new and existing products
  • Ensure the availability of timely engineering data to support existing and new products to support the build schedule
  • Develop systems that support and monitor production schedules and timelines
  • Partner with Operations leadership to create and deliver production status metrics (KPI's)
  • Identify and resolve problems related to inventory management
  • Collaborate with the necessary departments to determine optimal inventory levels in the Finished Goods Warehouse and also for Work-in-Process (WIP)
  • Support Operations by identifying the amount of finished product that needs to be produced weekly
  • Responsible for creating and scheduling all shop orders for the manufacturing facilities
  • Provide support in developing seasonal demand forecasts and anticipating customers reactions to planned promotions and discounts
  • Schedule and lead the weekly production scheduling meeting
  • Utilize the ERP system to effectively maintain a rolling forecast and schedule production needs
  • Monitor work centers throughout the day to ensure shop orders are being completed as planned
  • Communicate capacity issues to management and participate in capacity planning as needed
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain on material requirements and availability that may affect production
  • Coordinate priorities for all Homewinding shop orders when necessary
  • Build and communicate the master schedule for St. Croix North and South
  • Meet with key members of the sales team to discuss planned product promotions in order to produce more accurate forecasts
  • Make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality and productivity
  • Mentor/train other team members as needed to perform duties to improve office functionality
  • Foster and maintain solid relationships with buyers, vendors, brokers, purchasing managers, and internal sales personnel
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Competencies:

  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Detail oriented, ability to multi-task, and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines
  • A mindset to continuously improve upon initial forecasts to better meet customer needs. The ability to review statistical forecast models and apply error analysis techniques to improve forecasting is key, as is reviewing customer sales data
  • Take initiative and seek additional training or direction as needed
  • Ability to use statistical modeling software to analyze and validate gathered data
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to function as a team member within the department and with individuals from other departments.
  • In-depth understanding of the supply chain and how it functions
  • Ability to analyze and use critical thinking skills on a regular basis
  • Creative ability to think outside of the box and devise innovative solutions to various problems

Physical Requirements:

  • Possess knowledge of computer operations and applications and word processing and spreadsheets which includes possessing appropriate dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visual acuity to read material displayed on computer screens and in hardcopy 
  • Ability to complete duties in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are experienced
  • Must be present on-site daily with consistently acceptable attendance.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and/or 3 - 5 years applicable related experience preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel
  • Experience with ERP systems and applications, statistical analysis software, and planning optimizing software is required
  • Working Conditions: Environmentally controlled office environment with frequent trips into the various production area environments.
