Location: Open to remote work for the right candidate; office based in Boise, ID 

Job Overview 

Winter Wildlands Alliance is seeking a qualified and experienced Membership Director to join our team. Must be a highly-motivated individual to lead and manage the organization’s membership, outreach, donor cultivation, database system and engagement. They are responsible for expanding and managing our membership program, including creating and implementing an annual plan for membership growth and retention. Additionally, this position coordinates development opportunities and oversees membership activities including: membership mailings, organizing and representing WWA at special events, gathering data and analytics on members, database / CRM management and updating. The Membership Director will also work with other WWA staff on communications, member engagement, strategic planning and budgeting. A passion for winter, wild places, conservation advocacy, and human-powered adventure is a must. 

Our ideal candidate has a deep and personal commitment to the mission of Winter Wildlands Alliance. Additionally, they should have broad experience that includes: leadership paired with a positive attitude, demonstrable success in leading fundraising and membership programs, excellent communication skills, results-oriented database management experience, event experience, inspirational outreach and management skills on top of being a self-starter who is able to troubleshoot and be proactive around processes.

Requirements: 

  • Preferred minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit membership management, marketing, communications, advocacy and / or fundraising and development.
  • Understanding of standard nonprofit membership structure and development strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in both traditional and digital engagement. Membership program strategy and implementation a strong plus.
  • Skilled project manager with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative and follow-through. Ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, working well under pressure and adapting to challenges and opportunities with a solution-oriented perspective.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the management and support of team members, building relationships with external stakeholders and partners, and sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills and ability to inspire audiences and individuals to engage in mission-driven action.
  • Exceptional follow-through and creative problem solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing department budgets.
  • Proficient and comfortable working in platforms such as a CRM database, content management system, marketing automation software, MS Office and Google Analytics.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, attend and participate in events.
