Job Description & Requirements

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a hands-on sample or pattern maker to join our team in the position of Apparel Applications Developer. This position will play an Instrumental role in partnering with our Design and Application team to make design concepts a reality. In this position you will blend your prior apparel pattern making experience with Bemis product knowledge gained on the job to drive the execution of constructing concepts and/ or samples to support assigned projects and Initiatives.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Define project timelines for incoming Applications Technical Request Work

§  Be the primary applications resource in assembly techniques, processes and prototyping to showcase Bemis product and performance.

§  Proficiency in operating all required application machinery.

§  Understand intended design and assist in identifying suitable materials (fabrics, components, and adhesives) to execute apparel bonded designs.

§  Identify problems with bonded applications -troubleshoot and respond with recommended solutions to brands.

§  Lead the technical application training at Open houses and Bemis U, including managing prep and follow-up on customer mockups.

§  Support building prototypes and concepting for large customer engagement activities

§  Record all applications work in CRM and Liger

§  Provide input, offer innovative ideas, and troubleshooting for garment assembly supporting internal and external customers.

§  With the Lead Applications Designer-create & manage SOP's and technical specifications for bonded applications.

§  Assist with the development of Applications processes, timelines, SOP's, needed to develop Tech Packs for our custom collection contents (DLC)

§  Train internal and external customers in application techniques and use of machinery.

§  Manage inventory of all Bemis Materials, Fabrics, Trims stocked in Design Lab PDX -develop a quick reference system to catalog what is currently available to work with

§  Ensure all supporting tech data is on hand for distribution as needed

§  Manage the distribution of all sample materials as requested by internal & external customers

§  Work with the Applications Lead to orchestrate training for other Design Lab team members, Bemis colleagues & customers as required.

§  Record, Collate & Communicate all maintenance needed for Design Lab PDX

§  Data entry and trip report writing to manage and record lab activities & priorities

§  Provides subject matter expertise and knowledge of testing methods, operating all Sewfree machinery, sewing skills, apparel materials knowledge, product development familiarity.

§  Other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements & Experience:

§  Must have a bachelor’s degree In fashion design or similar, or 5+ years of relevant sample or pattern making experience within the apparel Industry.

§  Demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot and solve technical issues and obstacles.

§  Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities

§  Self-motivated, Organized, Methodical

§  Excellent communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate project updates to pertinent stakeholders.

§  Adaptable with a willingness to learn new skills.

§  Must be willing and capable of training technical ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

§  Strong presentation skills capable of relating to broad and diversified audiences.

§  Must be able to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.

§  Must be able to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.

§  Must be comfortable operating various

§  Must be able to demonstrate fitting and pattern making skills

§  Must be able to learn and understand technical materials and applications.

§  Must be able to travel up to 15% (domestic and international post covid)

 

Must be able to work In an office building 5 days per week (M-F)
