Adventure Travel West is a Tour Operator based in Denver, Colorado. We specialize in small group (13 pax or less) with a strong focus on hiking and active tours, mostly based on US National Parks and Hawaii. Our tours are committed to sustainable travel, incorporating Leave No Trace principles across all its itineraries.
Adventure Travel West trips are offered as scheduled departures and are multi-day (anywhere from 9 day to 14 days) led by our multi-lingual driver guides. Wholesalers and Travel Agents across Europe (primary markets in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, England) book their travelers on our fixed departures. We also offer exclusive departures, which are active tours customized for various travel companies in Europe who send full groups to us, so we're able to operate in a white label environment.
Role Description
We are currently hiring multiple German speaking US National Parks Tour Guides for our 2024 tour season (starting May). As a Tour Guide, you will be responsible for driving and guiding small groups on multi-day tours of the Western National Parks and Hawaii, ensuring that all guests have an unforgettable, educational, and safe experience. You will be communicating with guests, providing exceptional customer service, and sharing knowledge about the National Parks' history and ecology. Our peak tour season is typically from May to October.
Qualifications
- Guided Tours and Communication skills
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Knowledge of the history and ecology of Western National Parks and/or Hawaii
- Experience driving 15 pax vans with trailers
- Fluent in German and English (and other EU languages are a plus)
- CPR and First Aid certifications, as well as Food Handling license, etc
- Prior experience as a Tour Guide
- Drivers license and no major driving infractions
- Strong need for patience and friendliness throughout the tour
- Be 23 years of age or older
Compensation
This is a contractor position.
- Compensation is paid on a per-trip basis, and upon successful completion of the tour.
- Compensation for each trip is determined by the length of the tour and the foreign language spoken on the tour.
- Bonuses of $5 per returned client review are paid to the guide post-trip.
- Tips given directly to the guide by the clients are additional to the compensation agreed upon pre-season.
- Travel to and from the tours is covered by Adventure Travel West.
