Discovery Bicycle Tours seeks a reliable and skilled Lead Bicycle Mechanic to join our team. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn and grow, and strong organizational skills to include the ability to manage both bike repairs and shop operations. You will complete maintenance, repairs, and assembly of our bicycles, preparing them so that our tours run smoothly and efficiently.
Reports to: Fleet Manager, Woodstock, VT
Location: Woodstock, VT
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week
Pay: $23-$25 per hour, paid biweekly

Working relationships with:
• Bicycle Mechanics, Part-Time
• Assistant Operations Manager
• Tour Manager
• Tour Leaders
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform repairs, tune-ups, and maintenance on a fleet of traditional bicycles and e-bikes.
• Assemble new bicycles and modify existing bikes to meet specific tour requirements.
• Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify mechanical issues and ensure bike safety.
• Manage and track inventory of bike parts and accessories, maintaining stock levels.
• Handle the ordering and purchasing of parts, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain an organized workshop and bike warehouse, ensuring equipment is properly stored and functioning.
• Oversee and schedule maintenance tasks to ensure bikes are ready for tours on time.
• Use a computerized database to track repair histories, parts usage, and bike performance.
• Train other mechanics or staff members when applicable.
Qualifications:
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on bicycles (preferred).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong professional communication skills.
• Clean driving record and the ability to drive a 15-passenger van towing a cargo trailer.
• Self-starter – must be able to work independently.
• Can handle a fast-paced environment and challenging workload.
• Proficiency with computers, including database management (preferred).
